OPOSSUM BIO

Lisa V. Nelson, of Purple Opossum
Lisa V. Nelson

Hello!  I’m Lisa (she/her)! I love to connect and create…and ponder opossum-abilities! For over thirty years I’ve collaborated with diverse community partners to create, facilitate, and produce unique entertainment experiences – often with little resources and tight timeframes.  I dig big challenges, adventures, and shenanigans!

For much of my professional life I have worked with diverse groups of students – from experiential education with delinquent youth, to outdoor adventure education with privileged high school students, to international service-learning projects with university students.  I’m a first-generation college attendee who kind of over did it – holding a Ph.D. in Higher Education from Ohio University, a J.D. from Cleveland State University, and a B.A. from Wright State University – not to mention a commercial driver’s license (CDL), Tour Guide Certification, Mediation Certificate…and worked professionally as a Wing-Walker!

Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, I grew up acting, singing, and dancing, and now live and work nomadically with my husband and two kitties.  These days I’m particularly focused on writing a play involving a little-known heroine, Lyda Conley. You can learn more here.
